Hype Train's League History

After forming as a club in June 2019, we joined the East Berkshire Football League (EBFL) and won the EBFL Presidents Cup twice, during the 2021/22 and 2024/25 seasons!

The squad have also competed in Sunday League football, forming the Reading Sunday Social League (RSSL) in 2021, as well as competing in the Reading & District Sunday League between 2021-2024.

Ahead of the 2025/26 season, our 7th as a club, The Train moved to the Thames Valley Premier League (TVPL), where the team will compete in TVPL Division One.

What sets Hype Train apart from other clubs?

Hype Train formed in 2015 as a football and Fantasy Football (FPL) website, and we as a club are proud of our name as it represents our love and hype of the beautiful game. The Hype Train name is also a unique branding for a football team, and it's a brand that eclipses the need for local team names, meaning it is a name most don't forget.

As part of the Hype Train brand, we produce all manner of high-quality content on our website and socials, from in-depth articles about grassroots and FPL, matchday photography and match reports, to polished YouTube videos and cataloguing our entire history. We really care about growing our football community and want to leave a positive legacy about making grassroots football a better place to be for everyone.

Reading & District Sunday Football League (RDSFL)

The club expanded in 2021, adding a Sunday League team to compete in the RDSFL for the 2021/22 season.

Our debut season saw the team compete in Division 4, finishing in second place. The following two campaigns (22/23 and 23/24) saw The Train compete in Division 3, before our Sunday side folded ahead of the 2024/25 season as we transitioned back into Saturday League.

Our Sunday League journey isn't over though, as we plan on resurrecting the team in the near future.

The 2021 season started on April 11th 2021 and culminated in the first final between Woodley Saints and Hype Train FC on June 20th 2021.
