Match Report:

The Train's encounter against Old Windsor was our 11th fixture of the 2024/25 season in the East Berkshire Football League, with the team competing in the Berks & Bucks FA David Grainge Trophy, a county cup competition featuring teams outside of top divisions in the BBFA region. This was our second encounter against Old Windsor this season, having had the previous game in the competition abandoned after 13 minutes, with the County ruling for a replay.

Old Windsor took the lead during the 6th minute after the visitors won a free-kick by the referee for handball when the ball hit the chest of one of Mitchell Saunders. The resulting free-kick was nodded forward towards an attacker in an offside position that netted at the second time of asking. The team drew level in the 40th minute when a pin-point Ciaran Carolan corner was headed home by Saunders at the back post.

In the second-half the Train took the lead in the 81st minute when Carolan set up Bad Burles-Nash across goal, with the winger finishing with a good finish into the bottom right corner. The lead didn't last long though as in the 84th minute the visitors equalised, starting when the referee didn't blow for a foul when Manny Cudjoe was stamped on late when missing the ball, with the Windsor attacker assisting their forward, who on the turn finished well. The team would then end the game with 10 players when Burles-Nash was sin-binned, which all led to penalty kicks.

In a marathon shoot out with all 22 outfield players ending up taking a penalty, Windsor prevailed 9-8 with 2 efforts saved or missed, whilst Burles-Nash missed the crucial 21st penalty, allowing the visitors a route to win the game with the 22nd effort. Good luck to Old Windsor in the next round of the competition.
