Player of the Month - Jamie Halsall:

Our Player of the Month award for March 2022 is our 9th monthly award awarded, with Jamie Halsall winning the player vote at the club - with the club's Number 1 winning the award in his debut month for the club!

Halsall's debut came against Singh Sabha Slough FC on Saturday 5th March 2022 in a 2-2 draw, a huge result for the club against a team at the top of the table. Halsall made 12+ saves, including 3-4 incredible goal-saving efforts, that kept the team alive in the game, as we got a deserved point on the road against a really strong team.

On the same artificial pitch at Burnham Grammar School on Saturday 19th March 2022 in the quarter-finals of the EBFL Presidents Cup against Frontline FC, Halsall was again in great form as we went through 3-2 after extra-time, with the team recording our longest ever match, clocking in our game at 139 minutes against fellow Premier Division opposition. The goalkeeper would go on to make crucial saves, including a brilliant last-gasp double save in the final seconds of the game, to help the team into the semi-finals against Old Windsor FC Reserves.

Halsall's third and last appearance of the month came up against Old Windsor FC on 26th March in EBFL's Premier Division, with the team falling to a 3-0 defeat, again with Halsall making key saves to keep the team's score respectable against a top side in the division.

Club Chairman, Sam Austin, presented Halsall with the award after the team's 0-0 draw against AFC Cressex on Saturday 20th March 2022.

Thoughts from Club Secretary, Robert Austin:

"Ever since the end of last season, we have been searching heaven and earth for a new Saturday keeper, with Jack Roche, Jake Holloway, and Chris Marshall, all filling in whilst we started our delayed season in the East Berkshire Football League. It was a problem area to fill on a weekly basis, so when Jamie walked in at the club out of the blue, it's been a great relief to the entire squad as we were massively lacking in numbers in the area and he's taken to the team and jumped in with us mid-season and made a huge impact.

Halsall's debut against Singh Sabha was a sight to behold, he was in inspired form and really kept us in the game as we managed a 2-2 draw (and could have even nicked the win at the end) and then was also instrumental in our 3-2 extra-time win against Frontline in the Presidents Cup on the same pitch. We wouldn't have made the final without Jamie coming in and shoring the entire team up, the players already love him and he's had a great first month - here's to more repeat performances as the shot-stopper grows and moulds himself with the team even further."
