Player of the Month - Leon Mannion:
Our Player of the Month award for November 2021 is our 6th monthly award given out, with Leon Mannion winning the player vote at the club after another great month of back-to-back scoring at the club - winning the accolade for the second time and retaining the award after winning the player vote in October 2021.
The club's first outing in November saw us host Iver Heath FC at home in EBFL's Premier Division on Saturday 6th November, with the team winning 3-1 against the Slough based outfit. Mannion scored the first two goals in the game, first from the penalty spot, before burying a right-footed curler to have the team lead 2-0 at half-time. Mannion then turned provider, assisting Ash Ali's first goal for the club.
A week later, the team were at home again, this time in the Berks & Bucks FA Charles Twelftree Trophy, taking on Lambourn Sports on Saturday 13th November. In a 4-0 victory, Mannion netted a hat-trick, which included two wonderful finishes - the first a sublime half-volley from outside the penalty area following a long kick by shot stopper Chris Marshall, whilst the second saw Mannion race through in the second-half and pick out the top-corner.
Our third Saturday outing was against Stoke Poges in EBFL's Premier Division on 20th November. Mannion was fouled by the Poges goalkeeper for a penalty, taking a knock to the head, which was the assist for Phil Newport's first penalty for the club.
Mannion's second treble of the month came on Saturday 27th November at home against Pundit FC in the EBFL Premier Division. Mannion scored twice in the first-half, completed his hat-trick to put the team 5-2 in the lead, and also supplied two assists on the way to a great 7-4 victory.
The club's final outing in November a day later on the Sunday saw the team advance to the Last 16 of the Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Trophy with an excellent 5-0 win at home against Wraysbury FC. Mannion scored his 9th goal of the month, a pin-point header, and also provided 2 assists in the game, as the squad finished a packed month on home soil.
In total, Mannion managed 16 attacking goal contributions (9 goals and 7 assists), whilst was part of two clean sheets kept by the club in the month.
Club Chairman, Sam Austin, presented Mannion with the award after the team's last training session (and overall session) of 2021 on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
Thoughts from Club Secretary, Robert Austin:
"The team were able to keep up our electric start to the season from October to November, and we couldn't be happier with the squad's performance and application in what was another stellar month.
For consecutive months, Leon was the club's standout player and deservingly so after another month of big numbers in the final third. On top of the 16 goal involvements, 3 of the goals were seriously good strikes - with his standout goals coming against Lambourn in the County Cup.
We're extremely to have our Number 9 settled in the squad and in good form - he and the entire team are enjoying their football this season and hopefully we can crack on next year when some trophies may be up for grabs!"
